F‑Secure Anti‑Virus and Internet Security migration

F‑Secure Internet Security and F‑Secure Anti‑Virus products will be discontinued after November 30, 2023. This means that as of December 1, 2023, apart from virus definition updates, existing installations of these products will no longer get any product version updates. Also, no longer will we provide support for these products. To stay protected, upgrade to F‑Secure Total is needed.

I'm a reseller and my customers are asked to upgrade from their [OLD] F‑Secure Internet Security and Anti‑Virus software to TOTAL. How does it work?
   

The customers with ongoing installations of [OLD] F‑Secure Internet Security (code-based) and Anti‑Virus receive a notification saying that this solution will be discontinued and we advise to upgrade it to F‑Secure TOTAL. You can provide the following instruction that will help your customers proceed with the upgrade.

To upgrade to F‑Secure Total:

  1. On the product's main view, select the Learn more link in the end-of-life notification.
    • Note: If you want to know more, select the More details... link in the notification.
  2. The Continue your protection page opens.
  3. Scroll down the page and select Create an account. The Create an account window opens.
  4. Enter the required data and select Accept and create account. Once the account has been created, the My F‑Secure page opens and your subscription will be updated automatically to F‑Secure Total. Also, the F‑Secure Total app will be installed automatically on your Windows device(s).
  5. Go to the F‑Secure app and activate your account on the device by selecting Log in in the top-right corner and entering the account credentials that you created in the previous step. Now the following features are available to you: People and Devices, Family Rules, Password Vault, ID Monitoring, and Privacy VPN. You will also be notified of tasks you need to complete, such as setting up browser extensions, to stay fully protected.
  6. Restart your computer to finalize the upgrade.
    • Note: If for some reason your app does not update automatically in step 3, first uninstall your old app and install again from the My F‑Secure page.

In case that the customer has several codes running with different dates there are two possibilities:

  • If the customer wants to have all licenses running separately under different accounts, every user has to proceed with the upgrade on its own creating his new F‑Secure account with different email address.
  • It is also possible to connect all licenses to one My F‑Secure account. The customer can upgrade the solution on one device and then contact F‑Secure Support - we will be happy to assist them and update the account accordingly.
    • Notice: The subscription date will be joined for all licenses.
How can I as reseller transfer the customers' various codes for [OLD] F‑Secure Internet Security and Anti- Virus with the F‑Secure TOTAL account?
   

In case that the customer has several codes running with different dates there are two possibilities: If the customer wants to have all licenses running separately under different accounts, every user has to proceed with the upgrade on its own creating his new F‑Secure account with different email address. It is also possible to connect all licenses to one My F‑Secure account. The customer can upgrade the solution on one device and then contact F‑Secure Support - we will be happy to assist them and update the account accordingly.

Notice: The subscription date will be joined for all licenses. The maximal number of licenses for one account is 25, above that number the licenses have to be divided between more accounts.

After upgrading from the [OLD] F‑Secure Internet Security or Anti‑Virus to TOTAL, the expiration date on the account shows a wrong date, why?
   

In such situation, please contact F‑Secure Customer Support. providing your valid subscription code. They have a possibility to check your account and resolve the issue.

[OLD] F‑Secure Internet Security or Anti‑Virus subscription code not working when upgrading to F‑Secure Total
   

Perform the following steps to set switch to F‑Secure TOTAL for free.

  1. On the product's main view, select the Learn more link in the end-of-life notification.
  2. Note: If you want to know more, select the More details... link in the notification.
  3. The Continue your protection page opens.
  4. Scroll down the page and select Create an account. The Create an account window opens.
  5. After creating the account enter the code if asked.
    • Note: Should the code not be validated, contact support with your subscription code in hand and the email address registered for the account in question. Be aware that the code may not be activated under the tab Subscription and needs to be transferred to the account by the Support.

Be aware that the already used can't be activated on the account. If there is an ongoing Internet Security subscription, it will be transfer to the account automatically once you proceed with the upgrade via the notification in the Internet Security software.

My customer upgraded from the [OLD] F‑Secure Internet Security and Anti‑Virus to TOTAL, but the subscription is still expiring or the code not working. What can I do as reseller?
   

Be aware that only the unused codes for the [OLD] F‑Secure Internet Security and Anti‑Virus may be activated on the account. The ongoing subscription will be transferred upon the correct upgrade flow via the notification in the old software and the customer won't be ask then to activate the already used code.

In a situation, when the subscription wasn't transferred correctly using the right upgrade flow, please redirect your customers to F‑Secure Customer Support. The customer should provide the valid subscription code and the email address used while creating the account.
